2024 AFSS Educational Forum April 10-12, 2024 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV

These Property Maps are very helpful to use in this large casino. GSR FAQ’S 

Grand Sierra Resort is located at 2500 East Second Street in Reno, NV. An 8 minute drive, 2.5 miles north of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and a 10 minute drive, 2.6 miles east of the Amtrak station in Reno. GSR only offers shuttles to/from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Transportation Services: 

  • Valet is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for full service at the porte-cochere.
  • Airport shuttle leaves GSR at the top (:00) and bottom (:30) of every hour and leaves Reno-Tahoe International (RNO) at quarter after (:15) and quarter ’til (:45) the hour every day from 4:30am to 12:15am
  • Airport shuttle service will occur once every thirty (30) minutes during operating hours, at each endpoint: from the Main Entrance at GSR, and outside the D Doors North of the Baggage Claim at Reno Tahoe International Airport
  • Grand Sierra Resort is conveniently located near the interchange of two major highways – I-80 and I-580 (US 395)

Departure from Grand Sierra Resort:

The shuttle departs the resort every 30 minutes, from 4:30 am to 12:00 a.m. Pick up located by the front desk in the port Cohere

Departure from Reno-Tahoe International Airport:

The shuttle departs the airport every 30 minutes, from 4:45 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. Pick-up is from the exit located at the far end of the baggage claim area.

Hotel Check-In & Check-Out:

  • Hotel check-in begins at 3:00 p.m.
  • Early check-in may be available between 11:00 a.m. 1:00pm for a $30+tax fee – to take advantage, please text Sierra, your virtual guest service assistant at 775-277-2439
  • We encourage you to use our Mobile Check-In service. You may check-in the DAY BEFORE your arrival from 7:00pm-Midnight, and the DAY OF your arrival from 6:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Use this link for Mobile Check-In, www.GrandSierraResort.com/CheckIn. You will receive a text when your room is ready to get your room key(s) from the Front Desk
  • Hotel check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
  • Late check-out may be available at Noon for no charge and, a later check-out at 2:00 p.m. for a $30+tax fee – to take advantage of either time, please text “LATE CHECK OUT” to 775-277-2439 (the number for Sierra, virtual guest service assistant)

Conference Registration Check-in 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Nevada Foyer

You can use the Wild Apricot Members App during check-in and throughout the conference. Download the Wild Apricot Members app (available on both Apple and Android) and sign in with the same email address and password for your AFSS online account.

Totally Awesome 80's Welcome Reception

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Kingpin VIP Lanes & Lounge located on the East end of the Casino level in the main bowling alley.

The night will be packed full of networking & fun, including bowling on private lanes. There will be prizes for best dressed, so come dressed in your best 80's attire. Appetizers and drinks at the no-host bar will be available.

Conference registration will continue if you missed it on Wednesday in the Nevada Foyer from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 

Both breakfast and lunch will be served in the Nevada Foyer, where the general session will be held.

Keynote & Breakout Sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:15 p.m.

Optional CalChiefs Reorganization Update in the Nevada Foyer 4:15 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Optional Evening Networking Event (will have more information on this during the morning at the general session)

Friday, April 12, 2024

Both breakfast and lunch will be served in the Nevada Foyer where the general session will be held.

The morning will begin with a Chiefs Q&A Panel, and guests are encouraged to submit questions prior to the session using the QR code posted. 

General Session & Breakout Sessions will end at 4:00 p.m. to give everyone time to get ready for the Annual Banquet that will be held in the Tahoe Ballroom from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Remember this will be the last night of the conference. This is a semi-formal event and everyone is encouraged to wear red or black. Dinner will be provided and we will be taking a group photo.
